Our YO! Did You Know?!® Juneteenth episode, we roll the dial back more than a century before the production cameras rolled on the film location. It sat on a portion of a 450-acre land tract acquired by a group of northern missionary church men and was the largest land purchase in Atlanta at that time and a University was built there. It was ONE of more than 500 of their schools and colleges designed for freedmen in the South after the Civil War ended. Missionary men who believed in the abolition of slavery and the education of African Americans. We take you down I-85 to a place you pass everyday, and even with the clues that remain, you do not realize you are driving through a moment in time, where excellence and high education were supreme.
